SOCIAL SECURITY BOARD SPONSORED 12TH ANNUAL FESTIVAL DEL MAR B CLASS SATURDAY BOAT RACE

The Anguilla Social Security Board is a major supporter of promoting the island's cultural heritage. That is why one of its areas of focus over the years has been that of 'Culture'. Boat Racing is Anguilla's national sport and the Board contributes financially to the sport on an annual basis during the Boat Racing Season.

As a testament of its support to the national sport of Boat Racing, the Board has been the sponsor of the Festival Del Mar's Saturday B Class Boat Race for the past 12th consecutive years, since the introduction of the Festival. This is a milestone everyone at Social Security is very proud of, as well as the Festival's organizers.

On Saturday, 21st April 2019 the B Class Boat Race saw the likes of 7 boats vying for the top 3 positions and prizes. These were: Kedro's Pride, Hurricane, De Storm, F5 Tornado, Legal Heights, Alma Gloria and Dark Shadows. The top 3 boats to take home prizes were: 1st Place - Kedro's Pride, 2nd Place - Hurricane and 3rd Place - De Storm. Monetary prizes of US$800 for 1st place, US$600.00 for 2nd place and US$400.00 for 3rd place and trophies were awarded to the boats.

The Social Security Board is proud to have contributed US$2,500.00 to the sponsorship of Saturday's B Class Boat Race for the 12th Annual Festival Del Mar. Island Harbour bay front came alive over the Easter weekend, and everyone had an amazing time, enjoying great seafood, lively entertainment, fun activities, and notably free of any negative events or mishaps.

The Board wishes to congratulate Festival Chairman, Damien Harrigan and his hard-working committee members, who all do their best to ensure that Festival Del Mar remains an active and much look forward to event on the annual festival calendar in Anguilla. We look forward to a bigger and better festival in 2020!
