SOCIAL SECURITY BOARD PAYS HOMAGE TO OLDEST ANGUILLIAN - MRS. URSILLA CONNOR ON HER 106TH BIRTHDAY
Today, the Social Security Board (SSB) paid homage to Mrs. Ursilla Connor on the celebration of her 106th birthday. Mrs. Connor was born on 29th August 1913. Anguilla has been fortunate and blessed over the years to be the home and birth place of several centenarians plus. At 106 years of age, Mrs. Connor is now the oldest person on the island. It might be surprising to most, that at 106 years, Mrs. Connor is still mobile, has all her faculties and still does her own personal banking.
At the Social Security Board, we think the elderly in our community should be held in high esteem and as important members of our families, they are a source of advice and guidance about life. Therefore, as a token of appreciation for our centenarians and in recognition of their longevity and the value they provide to our society as a source of history and experience, the Board created a programme a few years ago to honour them on their birthday. They are visited by staff of the Social Security Office and presented with a personalized card and a monetary gift of EC$500.00.
The Board's Public Relations Officer, Rosanna Browne and Customer Care Officer, Marva Smith visited and made the presentation to Mrs. Connor for her 106th birthday.
"We want to use this special moment to let you know Ursilla, that you are a great addition to not only your family, but to our Nation. Thank you for all your words and a lifetime of wisdom. We hope you have a blissful celebration today. Happy 106th Ursilla and may God continue to bless you!" Were the Board's expressed birthday wishes.
